The modern trend in the organization of the public schools is a division of three levels - - elementary, middle school or junior high, and high school. This means that once students finish the program they can apply for jobs at the elementary, middle or high school level. Students choosing this option will be certified to teach at any of these levels. This not only provides for greater employment opportunities but also gives the student a more thorough understanding regarding the growth and skill development of children. Such an understanding of the development of children will be of great value in any physical education profession. The starting salary for certified physical education teachers is $28,000 per year, plus benefits.
